A few months ago we acquired a small peace of land on the city outskirts that wasn’t being used. The peace of land is just a small alleyway of fallow earth between two properties, among construction sites, gas stations and a Coca-Cola bottling plant. We decided to put it to use, and set an example of how small urban plots can be beautified, successfully remediate polluted soil, and to demonstrate practical rural technologies.

When all finished, the demonstration site will sport a wood-saving oven, a medicinal plant garden and a dry composting toilet. We give workshops in the construction and use of these practical technologies to rural communities to promote sustainable environmental conservation and community health.
