We believe that communities need to actively participate in the assessment and solution of their own problems. Our methods take the following into account :
That communities find solutions for their deeply felt necessities
To start small and slow, trying various options in cooperation with farmers and communities
To start first with the simple, then move towards the complicated
To set a standard of practical technology, using ideas that have been previously tested and found to be successful in similar social and physical conditions
To teach and learn through doing, cooperating with farmers and communities
To adhere to the principle of “teaching a man how to fish".
To promote community discussion and analysis, making sure to ask the right questions and adequately problematize situations
To teach people how to problem-solve, so they can network, perform trainings amongst themselves, and better their lives.
To organize and distribute technical, legal, and social information, for the benefit of communities and their rights
To create socially-conscious and technologically capable people living in indigenous communities
To promote the formation of community organizations, who can then be used as examples by future communities
